MillerCoors Receives Elite Corporate Health Champion Designation by the American Diabetes Association

Irwindale, CA [Nov. 7, 2016]—MillerCoors achieved the Elite Corporate Health Champion designation from the American Diabetes Association on Tuesday Nov. 1, 2016 during a presentation at the company’s brewery facility located at 15801 W 1st St in Irwindale. This designation recognizes companies and organizations that inspire and encourage organizational well-being as part of the Association’s Wellness Lives HereSM initiative. The Association’s Area Executive Director Jennifer Campbell and Associate Director of Development Tracey Hecht, along with Irwindale’s Chamber of Commerce President Marlene Carney, joined with MillerCoors Brewery Vice President Ben Maillette at the Irwindale location to present a certificate of achievement and recognition.

The health and wellness initiatives of MillerCoors have met the criteria of a Corporate Wellness Champion by offering health screenings, providing flu shots, having hiking groups, a walking path, softball team, on-site yoga, biking groups, and an in-house wellness specialist and registered nurse, Marla Roby. MillerCoors participation in the Association’s Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes was a key factor in achieving the “Elite” Corporate Health Champion status.

Nutrition and Weight Management: Five of the 12 criteria options, such as offering healthy food choices, promoting nutritional information and providing healthy vending options.Physical Activity: Four of the nine criteria options, such as participating in the physical activity events of the Association, facilitating walking or biking to work, encouraging taking the stairs, etc.Organizational Well-Being: Having an organizational smoke-free policy and three more of the nine criteria options, such as having a designated wellness program coordinator, a wellness committee, or a contracted wellness company available to staff/members, integrating health topics/information into internal communications, etc.
